Conditions and rebate amounts

For qualifying commercial installations of new electric “mini-split” Ductless Heat Pumps (DHP).

DHP Retrofit: $650 per ton

Pre-condition: The existing building’s space is conditioned by a permanently installed electric resistance heating system as its primary heat source. No other heating sources are eligible.

Post-condition: No additional requirement.

DHP Upgrade: $195 per ton

Pre-condition: No additional requirement.

Post-condition: Efficiency requirements apply to new DHP, according to indoor unit type.

  • Non-ducted: 10.4 HSPF2 / 11.0 HSPF
  • Ducted or mixed:  9.4 HSPF2 / 10.0 HSPF

Buy Local: Add $50 to your rebate.

A project can claim both Retrofit and Upgrade rebates if all conditions are met.

For qualifying commercial installations of new electric ducted Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP). This rebate cannot be used for retrofitting packaged terminal air conditioning (PTAC) units.

ASHP Retrofit: $450 per ton

Pre-condition: The existing building’s space is conditioned by a permanently installed electric resistance heating system as its primary heat source. No other heating sources are eligible.

Post-condition: No additional requirement.

ASHP Upgrade: $100 per ton

Pre-condition: No additional requirement.

Post-condition: New ASHP meets the efficiency requirements for upgrades.

Buy Local: Adds $50 to your rebate.

A project can claim both Retrofit and Upgrade rebates if all conditions are met.

For qualifying commercial installations of new Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps (PTHP).

Existing and new construction lodging and residential care buildings qualify.

Lodging: hotel, motel, bed and breakfast, boarding/rooming house, extended-stay hotel, dormitory, and shelter

Residential Care: nursing home, retirement home, and assisted living facilities

PTHP Retrofit: $400 per unit

Pre-condition: The space is conditioned by a packaged terminal air-conditioner (PTAC) or zonal electric resistance heat as the primary heating source. No other heating sources are eligible.

PTHP New construction: $65 per unit

Post-condition: No additional requirements.

Buy Local: Adds $25 to your rebate.

Advanced Rooftop Unit Control (ARC) rebates are available only for qualifying retrofits installed on an existing Rooftop Unit (RTU). Heating fuel may be electric or gas.

Pre-condition requirements for existing RTU:

  • Cooling capacity equal to or greater than five tons
  • Unitary system (split systems are not eligible)
  • Constant-speed supply fan (RTUs with variable speed fans are not eligible)

ARC Retrofit-Lite: $78 per ton

ARC-Lite products add one of the following equipment options to the existing RTU:

  • VFD and controller for variable speed fan operation; or
  • Multispeed motor and controller for multispeed fan operation

ARC Retrofit-Full: $162.50 per ton

In addition to one of the ARC-Lite options, Full-ARC products also add a controller with all of the following enabled:

  • Digital, integrated economizer control with either differential dry-bulb, or differential enthalpy with fixed dry-bulb high-limit shutoff; and
  • Demand Control Ventilation with proportional control, based on CO2 sensor reading

The ARC must be listed on Bonneville Power Administration’s qualified products list.

Buy Local: Add $50 for electric heat or $25 for gas heat

ARC projects are not eligible for the Connected Thermostat rebate.

Rebate: $650 per ton

Pre-condition: Heat source must be electric forced air furnace.

See requirements table for equipment specifications.

Available only for qualifying retrofits. Heating fuel may be electric or gas.

Pre-condition: Existing air handler unit fan is single-speed.

Post-condition:

  • New Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) controls the air handler unit fan with variable-speed operation.
  • Any existing throttling or bypass devices in the air handler unit must be removed or permanently disabled.

Rebate: $195

Amount is per fan horsepower. Whole horsepower shall be calculated at a project level using one of the following two methods:

  • Sum the horsepower for all VFDs installed, then round to the nearest whole horsepower; or
  • Round the horsepower for each individual VFD to the nearest whole horsepower, then sum all rounded horsepower amounts.

The AHRI certificate for each model installed is required for the heat pump rebates (DHP, ASHP, PTHP).
